Hi Everyone!
Everything around me from the spaciousness of the Grand Canyon to the delicacies of fossils preserved in stone inspires me to share my feelings, perspectives, and knowledge through the written word and art.
Touched by nature's grandness and heartened to protect and bring awareness to it's beauty, I have written and illustrated 12 children's books. My husband and I love to travel and over the last six years I have developed an extensive art portfolio focused on natural wonders.
I am deeply involved in my local writer's guild, the Writers Alliance of Gainesville (FL), of which I am the current president. I am just as immersed in the international organization, Society for Children's Books Writers and Illustrators. I am currently the Co-Illustrator Coordinator for the State of Florida.
Please dive into my site! I'm sure you'll find something for yourself, friend, child, or grandchild.
Yours,
Jenny
I've had some great experiences that have influenced my artistic style.
First, I would have to say growing up as an Army brat. My father was a LT. Col. in the Transportation Corps. We moved around Europe and the States. My mother was a school teacher. Both of my parents were avid art enthusiasts. They dragged my brother and me all over the world to museums, castles, and anything and everything cultural. From a very young age I was exposed to many styles of art. I developed an appreciation for art and the eras and cultures it represented.
Second, when my dad retired, we moved back to my mother's home town of Asheville, North Carolina. The architecture of Asheville is of the late 1800s and early 1900s. I loved the Neo-Classical, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco forms that influenced the sculpture and fine art of the eras.
Third, pop art. I loved and love pop art. That's why the website name I picked is Pop Decore Designs. I grew up on comic books and Andy Warhol.
I would call my art and the 'feeling' I get when I create art, a mixed up web of Art Deco, Pop, Neo-Classical, Americana, and Primitive art forms. It's a Wonderful amalgam!
Come see me on Feb. 1st, 2025. The Sunshine State Book Festival will be at the Best Western Gateway Grand Hotel in Gainesville, FL.
